YIHE Studio etiquette

Arrive early

Please bring your own mat & towel to practice. We have some available for rent if you need. Please bring water and arrive 15 minutes before your first class so we can check you in and show you around. We do not allow people to enter class once it has started.

Stay for the whole class

Our classes are designed to work your entire body, building postures and exercises in a sequence. Final Savasana is where all the magic happens! Benefits of your class are maximized by relaxation. Allow yourself time to stay in Savasana for a while after class to fully relax and soak up all the amazing mental and physical benefits.

Group Energy

Make your practice your own by skipping a pose or modifying depth, but do your best to stay with the teacher’s instruction. Doing so has a noticeable impact on the energy of the class.

Drink plenty of water

Add electrolytes to prepare your body for the demands of hot class and sweating. We have water and electrolyte replenishers for purchase.

Listen to your body

We recommend not eating 2-3 hours before you take class to avoid nausea and to allow the body to fully digest. You’ll find what works best for you.

Be mindful of scents

Many people are allergic and sensitive to strong perfumes and lotions, so please rinse off if you are wearing scented lotions or perfumes before class, and refrain from applying them in the studio after class.

Wear proper attire

Wear clothes that you feel comfortable sweating in and that allow for a wide range of movement. The room is heated to 105 degrees in hot classes and it will feel hot.

Dealing with the heat

The heat helps to limber up your muscles, allowing for a deeper stretch. It also helps detoxify the body, improve circulation, increase cardiovascular health, and improve strength by putting muscle tissue in optimal state for reorganization of lipids in the muscular structure.

Remember

You’re literally changing the construction of your body. It’s like forging a samurai sword. It all starts with a piece of cold, rigid steel. When heated, the steel softens and becomes malleable, so it can be hammered into the proper shape. That’s what you’re doing in class with both your mind and body!
